Last updated: 28 August 2026
1. Introduction
"We", "us", "our" and "Vitara" refer to Vitara Finance Pty Ltd (ABN 67 912 182 576), Credit Representative Number 580892, authorised under Connective Credit Services Pty Ltd, Australian Credit Licence Number 389328.
Vitara Finance is a mortgage and finance broking business, arranging residential home loans, commercial finance and asset finance for our clients across Australia. The personal and financial details you share with us are sensitive, and it matters to us that you feel secure whenever you deal with us.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, and how you can access or correct that information, or make a complaint. It incorporates our Privacy Collection Statement and is designed to keep you informed of your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
By providing personal information to us, or by using our website or services, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of that information as described in this Policy, unless you tell us otherwise. We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website at vitarafinance.com.au.
2. Personal information we collect
Personal information means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. The personal information we collect about you may include:
- your name, date of birth, address (current and previous), and contact details
- your occupation, employment details and proof of income
- the ages and number of your dependants and cohabitants, and how long you've been at your current address
- bank account and other financial details, assets and liabilities
- driver's licence, passport or other identification details
- any other information we reasonably need to identify you or assess your application
This may also include credit information. That's information used to assess your eligibility for finance, such as any finance you have outstanding, your repayment history, and any defaults. Credit information is usually exchanged between credit providers, finance brokers and credit reporting bodies (CRBs).
We will only collect sensitive information, such as health information, with your consent, and generally only where it's needed to assess an insurance product arranged through us, or otherwise required by a lender in providing credit assistance.
If you give us personal information about another person, such as a co-applicant, joint borrower, guarantor, or your accountant or solicitor, you need to make sure that person is aware of this Policy and has agreed to their information being shared with us. We rely on you to get that consent before providing us with their details, and we may not be able to provide our services to you unless we hold it.
3. How we collect your personal information
Where reasonable and practical we collect your personal information directly from you, through enquiry forms, loan applications, phone calls, meetings, or our website. We may also collect it from joint applicants, co-applicants or guarantors, from your representatives such as accountants, solicitors, conveyancers or real estate agents, from referral partners, from our aggregator and lenders, or from public sources when we can't reach you directly.
4. Why we collect, hold and use your personal information
We use your personal information to provide credit assistance and information about loan products, assess your eligibility for finance and prepare your application, verify your identity and protect against fraud, administer our services and handle enquiries or complaints, manage our relationship with you, update referrers on the general progress of your loan, tell you about other products or services that may interest you (unless you opt out), and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to assess your suitability for a loan or lease, verify your identity, or let you know about products that might suit you.
5. Who we disclose your personal information to
We may disclose your personal information to prospective lenders and other funders, our aggregator Connective Credit Services Pty Ltd (through which we submit applications to lenders on its panel), our Australian Credit Licence holder, your representatives and referees, referrers, valuers, lender's mortgage insurers, guarantors, credit reporting bodies, our service and IT providers, fraud prevention agencies, government or regulatory bodies as required by law, and anyone you authorise us to share your information with.
Before disclosing your personal information, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that the recipient protects it to a standard at least equal to ours, or that you've consented to the disclosure.
6. Credit reporting bodies
You authorise us to act as your agent to seek and obtain credit information about you from a credit reporting body, for the purpose of working out which finance product suits your circumstances. We may disclose details such as your name, date of birth and address to a CRB to check whether that information matches what the CRB holds.
7. Overseas storage and disclosure
We may use cloud storage and IT providers to hold the personal information we have about you, and these servers may sit outside Australia. It isn't always practical to know exactly where information is stored or disclosed, since cloud storage can be accessed from multiple locations. Overseas recipients may need to disclose information under a foreign law. In that case, we won't be responsible for that disclosure.
8. Direct marketing
We may use your personal information to tell you about finance products, offers, or changes to our business. Your consent to this is implied unless you tell us otherwise. You can opt out at any time by contacting us, or using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
9. Consent to electronic communications
You consent to us providing documents and notices electronically, including by email or secure portal, and you understand paper documents may no longer be provided. You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us.
10. Consent to video or audio conferencing
Where we meet with you by video or audio conference, you consent to us collecting your personal, financial and credit information this way, and to the conference being recorded for the purpose of arranging credit.
11. Government identifiers
If we collect a government identifier, such as your tax file number, we won't use or disclose it other than as required or permitted by law, and we'll never use it to identify you.
12. Dealing with us without identifying yourself
Where it's lawful and practical, we'll let you deal with us without giving us personal information, for example if you're just asking about current interest rates. In most cases though, we'll need to identify you to provide our services.
13. Cookies and website tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technology on our website to improve your experience. When you visit, our systems may record your IP address, the date and time, the pages you view, and anything you download. You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, though this may limit parts of the site.
14. How we protect your personal information
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold, including staff confidentiality obligations, secure storage of paper and electronic records, restricted system access, and technical safeguards like firewalls and encryption. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
15. Access, correction and retention
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you at any time. We'll usually respond within 7 days and aim to provide the information within 30 days, and may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of retrieving it. If any information we hold is wrong or out of date, you can ask us to correct it, and we'll investigate and respond within the same timeframes. We'll destroy or de-identify your information once we no longer need it for the purpose it was collected, unless we're required to keep it by law.
